Frequently Asked Questions
About Our Services
Rights you retain
- Copyright: You remain the copyright owner of your manuscript, characters, and world.
- Moral rights/attribution: You’re credited as the author and can use your name, pen name, and author brand.
- Future works: Any works not specifically contracted (sequels, spin-offs, short stories) remain yours. We may request an option/right of first negotiation, but it’s limited and time-bound.
- Adaptations and derivatives: Film/TV, merchandising, games, stage, and most ancillary rights remain with you unless you choose to license them to us.
- Translation rights: By default, you keep them. You can license translations to us territory-by-territory if desired.
- Excerpts and personal use: You can share reasonable excerpts for marketing, keep copies for personal use, and use text in readings, newsletters, and on your website.
Rights we ask to license (non-exclusive parts are noted)
- Publishing/distribution: Exclusive right to publish, distribute, and sell the contracted work in specified formats (typically print and ebook; audiobook optional) for a defined term.
- Territory: Usually World English; can be limited to specific countries on request.
- Format: Print (POD/offset), ebook, and optionally audiobook. Each format can be negotiated separately.
- Exclusivity and term: Exclusivity only for the formats/territories licensed, with a clear term length and reversion triggers.
- Sublicensing: Limited right to place your book with retailers, wholesalers, and libraries (e.g., Amazon, Ingram, Kobo). Any broader sublicenses (anthologies, special editions) require your approval.
- Marketing and promotional use: Non-exclusive right to use your cover, title, pen name, and approved excerpts for advertising, catalogs, ARCs, and social media.
- Metadata and pricing: Right to set and adjust metadata, pricing, categories, and keywords in consultation with you.
Key protections we include
- Publication deadline: If we don’t publish by a set date, rights revert on request.
- Out-of-print/low-sales reversion: If sales fall below an agreed threshold or the title is unavailable, rights revert.
- Statement and audit: Regular royalty statements and your right to audit our books for your title.
- Approval points: You have meaningful approval over cover, description, major edits, and audio narrator (if applicable).
- No broad non-compete: Any non-compete or option is narrow, time-limited, and work-specific.
Optional add-ons (only with your consent)
- Translation, audiobook production, large print, special editions.
- Film/TV shopping or agency representation via separate agreement with defined term and shared revenues.
We’re happy to tailor the grant so you retain the rights you value most while giving us just enough to publish and market your book effectively.

We tailor packages to your goals and budget; you’ll get a detailed scope, timeline, and fixed quote before work begins.
Distribution reach
- Retailers (global, “wide” by default): Amazon (Kindle + print), Apple Books, Kobo/Rakuten, Google Play Books, Barnes & Noble, and major regionals (e.g., Tolino, Vivlio). We also support a direct webstore for higher-margin sales.
- Print: Print-on-demand via Ingram and Amazon for worldwide availability; optional offset print runs for launches, special editions, or events.
- Wholesalers and bookstores: Ingram wholesale makes your print edition orderable by bookstores and academic retailers; optional sales-rep pitching and co-op requests where viable.
- Libraries: Ebook and audio to OverDrive/Libby, Bibliotheca, Hoopla; print via Ingram. We set library-friendly pricing to encourage adoption.
- Audiobook: If produced, distribution to Audible/ACX, Apple, Kobo, Chirp/Findaway network, and library audio channels.
- Territories and currencies: Global distribution with localized pricing in USD, GBP, EUR, CAD, AUD, and key emerging markets. We adjust price tiers to align with regional norms and VAT/GST.
- Exclusivity options: Default is wide. Kindle Unlimited (KDP Select) exclusivity is available if it aligns with your strategy; we review pros/cons and term dates with you.
- Metadata and discoverability: Professional BISAC/BIC subjects, keywords, series data, contributor roles, and A+ content where supported. Ongoing optimization after launch.
Positioning strategy
- Audience and comps: We identify your primary and secondary reader segments, then select 3–5 contemporary comps to guide cover, blurb, keywords, and ad targeting.
- Hook and promise: We craft a clear value proposition (trope/genre cues, tone, heat level or content rating, and unique twist) and ensure it’s front-and-center on product pages and ads.
- Cover and branding: Market-aligned cover design and series branding that signal subgenre instantly while remaining distinctive. Consistent visual identity across books 1–5.
- Pricing and promo ladder: Competitive launch price with planned price pulses, newsletter-feature placements, and retailer promos. Library and audiobook pricing tuned for conversions.
- Retailer pages: SEO-rich blurbs, tagline and subtitle strategy, editorial reviews/early praise, and tailored product descriptions per retailer. We maintain category placement and refresh metadata post-launch.
- Read-through and series plan: For series, we use rapid-release calendars, end-matter funnels, newsletter magnet integration, and preorder stacking to maximize read-through and LTV.
- Reviews and social proof: ARC distribution, influencer outreach, Goodreads strategy, and early review targets to build credibility quickly.
- Ads and targeting: Test-and-scale campaigns on Amazon Ads, Meta, BookBub, and Kobo—using keyword/trope targeting derived from comps and search data. We provide weekly optimizations and transparent reporting.
- International positioning: Localized metadata where supported, region-specific categories, and timing promos to retailer merchandising calendars in the UK, EU, CA, and AU.
- Ongoing optimization: 30/60/90-day check-ins, cover/price tests if needed, and seasonal promos to sustain momentum long term.
Bottom line: your book is available globally in ebook, print, and (optionally) audio, supported by market-accurate positioning designed to convert browsers into buyers and build a loyal series readership.
